For Your Information
Min/Max - What does it mean?
For each program at the Park District, there are a minimum number of
registrations needed before a program can “go”. But why a maximum?
The more campers, the less individualized attention. In addition to space
limitations, we like to keep the camper-to-counselor ratio low to ensure
that a quality experience is had by all.
Grade/Age Requirements
Children attending Park District camps must be grade appropriate.
Grades listed refer to the grade the child will be entering at the start of
2009-10 School Year. Preschool campers three years of age must be toilet
trained and the appropriate age by June 15th.
Camper Groupings and Staff-to-Camper Ratio
Group sizes vary from program to program. An average camp staff-tocamper
ratio is 1 counselor to 6 campers.
It’s Raining, It’s Pouring
Camp will be held rain or shine.
Proof of Residency
New resident campers will be required to show three proofs of residency.
Property Tax Bill or lease agreement, Driver’s License, and utility bill
acceptable.
Picture This
Registrants and participants permit the taking of photographs and video
of themselves and their children during Park District activities for
publication, as the Park District deems necessary.
Insurance
The Bedford Park District does not provide individual Accident and Health
Insurance.
Illness Policy
Children should not be brought to camp with illnesses that are contagious
or with fevers, diarrhea, vomiting, or unidentifiable rashes. Campers may
not return to the program until they are fever and/or diarrhea free for 24
hours. Children who are not participating normally (who show extreme
lethargy or fatigue) will be considered ill and sent home.
Parents Night
Don’t miss this annual event that celebrates the conclusion of Summer
Camp. The campers will perform a variety of acts for your enjoyment in
this, our Summer Camp Grand Finale.
| Date: |
Thrusday, July 30 |
| Time: |

Camper Code of Conduct
The Bedford Park District expects summer campers to exhibit
appropriate behavior at all times. We have developed guidelines to
ensure that our camp is safe and enjoyable for all. The staff may
develop additional rules as necessary.
All campers must:
- Show respect to staff, volunteers, and fellow participants
- Show respect for equipment, supplies, & facilities
- Take part cooperatively and positively while following the rules
established for camp
Discipline
The Bedford Park District uses a firm, positive, and progressive
approach to discipline. The purpose of discipline is to help children
develop self-control and take responsibility for their actions. Each
situation is evaluated based on individual circumstances and Camper
Conduct Reports will be used to document inappropriate behavior.
Parents will be notified when a Camper Conduct Report is made. The
Bedford Park District reserves the right to dismiss any camper whose
behavior endangers his/her own safety or negatively impacts others.
The safety and enjoyment of all campers is our primary concern.
