2009 Year in Review
2009 has been a busy and productive year at the Bedford Park District. The following
list highlights some of our accomplishments:
Administration
- Revised and updated Personnel Policy Manual
- Revised and updated Safety & Operations Manual
- Successfully completed annual audit
- Successfully completed liability insurance audit
- Applied for Bond Funds through the Lyons Township Park Improvement
Initiative
- Operated a fiscally responsible park district
Buildings and Grounds
- Planted 50+ trees
- Replaced auditorium roof at Community Building
- Extended walking path and replaced limestone screenings on current paths
- Added security cameras to assist in graffiti prevention and arrests
- Renovated Arts/Crafts Room
Recreation
- Provided a wide range of recreation programs for all ages
- Modified and updated program books
- Retained affordably priced programs
- Community service projects including Animal Welfare Drive,Veteran Hospital
Visit, Ronald McDonald House Visit, & Toy/Food Drives
Athletics
- Completed dugout roof project
- Repaired and replaced fencing on three ballfields
- Provided athletic opportunities for all ages
Continuing Education
Continuing education has been a priority for Board and staff members via the
following colleges and agencies:
- Mid-states Camp Conference
- National Recreation & Parks Association
- Playground Safety Institute
- Park District Risk Management Association
- Illinois Association of Park Districts
- Moraine Valley Community College
- Michigan State University
